The Rankings Remix takes a look at the front-runners of California as they continue to impress on their way to the playoffs.
Southern California-
Edison of Huntington Beach is still undefeated after an impressive victory over Fountain Valley. This was a rivalry game between two, unbeaten teams and many thought there was an outside chance that Fountain Valley could pull off the upset. It was the exact opposite as Edison took it to them with a 24-0 win.
In the L.A. City Section, Crenshaw has extended the gap between themselves and everybody else. Last Friday night they dismantled Dorsey, 44-7, who was number two in the CoachesAid.com/ca rankings for L.A. City going into that game.
Moorpark continues the theme of remaining perfect with their shutout of Agoura, 28-0. Moorpark has Saint Bonaventure breathing down their necks in the Northern division as they get ready for the last game of the regular season against Westllake.
Saint Bonaventure breaks the unbeaten theme but this is a talented team with just one loss and they jumped on Santa Barbara early and often last Friday night. Saint Bonnie rolled to a 56-0 victory and it was no contest from the start. Their last tune-up before the playoffs is versus Dos Pueblo.
Bay Area-
After De La Salle lost two tough games against teams from New Jersey and Florida, the critics said this would be the year they would fall back to the pack. Wrong. De La Salle is now 7-2 on the year, number one in the CoachesAid.com/ca rankings in the Bay Area and looks to be the power they are season after season.
Mitty is the favorite to represent D-II in a state bowl game this year, but Bellarmine is hot on their tales. Mitty defeated a decent Serra team but Bellarmine defeated a good St. Francis team. The only difference between the two powers of the West Catholic league is Bellarmine's one loss, and do not forget Mitty and Bellarmine tied when they faced off this season.
Sac-San Joaquin-
Saint Mary's and Grant are both undefeated and both loaded. Saint Mary's has the edge when the talk of Open Division bowl games are concerned, but a slip-up next week with the league title on the line against Edison and Grant could slide right in to that bowl game.
In the Northern division, Paradise ran away with the the division and left everybody in the dust. They are still the number one ranked team on CoachesAid.com/ca in the Northern division.
