Every Tuesday Coaches Aid Iowa features the top performing athletes of the past week from across the state in no particular order.

FOOTBALL

EMMETSBURG, LENOX and SOLON: The class 1-A, 8-Player and 2-A (respectively) defending champions continued their consecutive winning streaks. All the teams had outstanding performances against their opponents.

CHAD OWENS, Waukee: In Friday night’s game against defending class 4-A champions Valley (West Des Moines), Owens completed 19 passes with four touchdowns and a total of 395 yards. His performance was instrumental in Waukee’s win over Valley, 42-21

CHANSE CREEKMUR, Marshalltown: In Friday’s game against Ames the senior quarterback completed 17 passes which included five touchdowns for a total of 386 yards. He also had five carries for a total of 75 yards which included a 60-yard touchdown run.

BARKLEY HILL, Cedar Falls: The sophomore runningback had 30 carries and a total of 289 yards rushing, including three touchdowns. His performance in Friday’s game was pivotal to Cedar Fall’s upset win over undefeated Linn-Mar (Marion), 26-21.

TANNER SUSIN, Centerville: The senior runningback’s performance on Friday was key to #4 Centerville’s victory over #7 Grinnell in one of the close watched games of “Battle of the Top Ten” in class 3-A . Susin had 27 carries and a total of 234 yards which included four touchdowns in their win over Grinnell, 29-21.

GOLF

BLAKE WALLER, Dowling Catholic (West Des Moines): He won the class 4-A boys state medalist honors at the state championship. He had a total of 145 in two rounds, 71 and 74.

DOWLING CATHOLIC (West Des Moines): The boy’s golf team won the class 4-A state golf championship. Dowling Catholic was able to hold-off Valley (West Des Moines) who were two strokes behind Dowling Catholic after the first round.
